An Important Message from Rik

Hi all,

I am very appreciative of all the support we have received in the form of online orders through our website - thank you! That said, I need to share with you all an important decision related to online orders.

Normally, online ordering is a small part of our business - about 10%. In the last three weeks, that has risen to over 50%. Which is awesome - but has also revealed a flaw in our online business model as we have struggled to keep up and pay our expenses.

We have been offering free shipping for orders of $50 or more for over a decade, but we must increase the minimum to $75 effective immediately. Granting free shipping on orders with a $50 minimum simply does not work economically, especially for 5 pound bags. In many cases, we have shipped out bags at a loss with the free shipping. We just cannot afford this, especially now.

Our team had been planning on raising the minimum to $75 before this crisis as it had already become clear that this was unsustainable. Unfortunately, we ran out of time for the gentle rollout. Now that it is essential, abrupt was our only option.
