Fundraiser: Latte Art Throwdown for RAICES

July 17 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

New Harvest Coffee Roasters is hosting a Latte Art competition on July 17th for the Providence coffee community and beyond! All of the proceeds from the competition entry fee and raffle tickets will be going to RAICES (read more below!). Our last competition fundraiser in March benefited Sojourner House and was a great success. We would love for you to be part of our effort to provide support for a great organization like RAICES.

Our friends at ‘Gansett are pitching in to sponsor this event, as are the good folks at Flatbread Company, Farm Fresh’s Veggie Box program, Rhody Fresh and more! We’ll be offering great prizes for winners, as well as raffling off gift cards to our favorite local spots.

If you would like to sponsor this event, please email our Director of Outreach and Education, Sophie, at sophie@newharvestcoffee.com. If you would like to participate, the entry for the competition is $10/participant, all of which will be going to RAICES, and you can sign up at the event or via email, again at sophie@newharvestcoffee.com.

The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES)

Parents separated from their children at the border (and other immigrants placed in detention) can’t get released from ICE custody to reunite with their families until they pay the full amount of their immigration bond. Bonds are set at a MINIMUM of $1500, and are usually in the range of $5-10K, even for asylum seekers without any criminal history.

Unlike in the criminal system, bail bond companies either do not help people in immigration proceedings or impose very strict requirements, like private ankle monitors (which families have to pay to “rent”).

Donate to our fund to directly support legal services for detained separated parents and the direct funding for bonds to get parents released!!!

As soon as RAICES learned that the threatened policy of family separation was ramping up, we committed to serving as many separated families as possible. Through your generous support, we can now reach many hundreds more families, reunite parents with their children, and pay bonds to get parents released. We thank you for your generosity.
