Seed to Cup

This introductory class will lead you through coffee’s journey from seed to cup, touching upon every step in the coffee chain. This class includes a coffee cupping which is how we taste and evaluate coffees in the industry. We will explore different origins, processes and roasts - come prepared to drink coffee! This class includes a 6oz bag of New Harvest coffee! This class is appropriate for both professional baristas and home enthusiasts.

Brew Methods

This class introduces the basics of brewing and explains how recipe, grind size, and brew time all influence the quality of final cup. Students will brew, taste, and discuss as they are led through the essential techniques and best practices for manual brewing. Students also take home 6 oz. bag of New Harvest Coffee! This class is appropriate for both professional baristas and home enthusiasts. This is a hands-on, interactive class.

Barista Fundamentals I

This intensive class introduces the essential principles and industry best practices for preparing quality espresso and espresso-based beverages. Barista Fundamentals is an introductory course so no prior experience is necessary! Students should expect to leave with an understanding of: The role of the barista Proper technique for espresso preparation How to steam milk for microfoam The basic of building espresso-based drinks Daily cleaning procedures for espresso equipment Prerequisites: none This class is a prerequisite for Barista Fundamentals II. This class is both lecture and hands-on. There is a break built into this class - bring yourself a snack!

Barista Fundamentals II

Building on the skills and knowledge established in our Barista Fundamentals I course, this class explores the concepts of strength and extraction in espresso preparation and teaches students to implement new techniques for optimizing workflow and customer service while preparing espresso with precision and accuracy. Students will also learn the mechanics of and the essential techniques for free-pouring latte art. Come prepared to taste and evaluate multiple espressos! Prerequisites: Barista Fundamentals I
