What we care about

  • The Coffee

Thousands of Hours in Every Cup

New Harvest was founded in 2000 by Rik Kleinfeldt and Paula Anderson with the intent of making extraordinary coffee accessible to real people. In the early days, Rik roasted solo in an industrial shed at the old Washburn Wire factory. Today New Harvest has a seasoned crew producing the best coffee in Rhode Island at the eco-friendly Farm Fresh Food Hub in Providence. Our team is committed to honoring the labor of the many people who tended and processed our beans. Careful roasting, regular cuppings, and thoughtful packaging ensure a consistently satisfying coffee experience.

  • Sustainability

    Source Direct

We started building our Source Direct program in 2007. New Harvest roastery staff travel yearly to coffee farms in Central and South America. We carefully source our coffees from partners we trust and directly from farmers and local cooperatives. We always pay at least 20% above the Fair Trade minimum for our Source Direct coffees and often more than double for direct trade specialty microlots.

  • Our Customers

    Getting Caffeinated

Our coffee is for sale by the bag and cup at New Harvest Coffee & Spirits, our on-site cafe. On weekdays you can watch the roastery staff at work through the glass while you sip a latte. New Harvest coffees are also available throughout the region at Whole Foods Markets and our wonderful wholesale partners. We offer classes and tastings for the home brewer and the pro barista. For brewing guidance at home, visit our Make Coffee page.

  • The Community

    Building Connections

New Harvest is committed to all its communities, at origin and here in Rhode Island. We donate to and host fundraisers in partnership with local non-profit organizations, with particular focus on organizations dedicated to literacy, women’s health, and the arts.
